Our association Women of the World in Denmark invited the ethnic minority women to meet and go together through Copenhagen for the Constitution Day Parade on June 5. We would like to thank to our partners from Etniske Minoritetskvinders Råd, Mødestedet for Kvinder, SILK Road forening, NIF (Netværk i Fagbevægelsen), Tingbjergs Eves univers, Tamilsk kvindeforening Danmark for their support to our initiative. It was such a beautiful day – we could experience what women for 100 years fought for so hard. There was very inspiring, truly breathtaking togetherness and everyone went home with renewed energy to continue the good work.
We think it was great to show that we, ethnic minority women, are part of the Danish society. We are black and white, we are Muslims and Christians, we are graduates and illiterate, so when the politicians or journalists are talking about the immigrants – who exactly are they talking about? Our goal was to create an image that visually shows our diversity, our many different colors and shapes. Look at the photos – it works! Many thanks to the photographer Claudia Adeath who followed us all the time.
