The Ethnic Minority Women’s Award

World’s women in Denmark have established an award for ethnic minority women. It is known as ‘The Alma Award’. The award goes to a woman with another ethnic background than Danish, who is not visible in the news media but who does a large amount of work within the Danish society. The name of the award as well as the first winner of the award, were announced on 13 November 2017, marking the ten-year anniversary for the election of the first two women with an immigrant background, Yildiz Akdogan and Özlem Cekic, to the Danish Parliament on 13 December 2007.
