There are many needs of our members. One of the most important is to develop their Danish language skills. We regularly use various methods to become better at Danish. On our Clever Monday in April, we have chosen to practice Danish by telling each other one story from our lives. We think it is a good method to get better in Danish.
Attending the Clever Monday “The heartfelt life stories” is not just a pleasant way to spend the time together with a lot of other beautiful women. We are trying to put the structure on our stories in order to be able to share them with each other. We also have the purpose of using Danish metaphors, idioms and set phrases. Telling stories is a really good approach, both in everyday life and in professional life. What we have noticed is, first and foremost, the need both be able to listen to each other and to be able to listen to what the other say.
Variety of the accents is not a real problem – just think of the many Danish dialects, where people from one village sometimes have difficulty in understanding the people from a neighboring town. Equally important is to learn how to formulate the thoughts accurately and succinctly, so others do not lose concentration or start to disconnect. Pace, breaks and body language are other important elements to emphasize and support the understanding of what is wanted to be told. It is undoubtedly important to develop the elocution, to enrich and develop Danish language skills. Therefore we will arrange life storytelling again.
